AFRESH: IMPACT HIGHLIGHT
Impact Thesis
A demand management system designed specifically for fresh food will reduce over-ordering and associated food waste while increasing the freshness of food available to consumers, thereby driving increased demand for fresh food
AFRESH TRANSFORMS FRESH THYME’s produce INVENTORY, Preventing food waste
Traditionally, order inventory management systems for grocery stores are designed for the non-perishable “center store” products instead of fresh produce. Due to this technology gap and the nature of fresh items, which are perishable and non-uniform, grocery stores suffer a 10+% waste (“shrink”) in fresh categories.
Afresh, an easy-to-use order management system built for perishable items, partnered with Fresh Thyme Farmers Market to reduce food waste and improve their customer experience by offering higher quality produce. After replacing their legacy system with Afresh, Fresh Thyme saw a 25% reduction in shrink and a 54% increase in their produce shopper’s average basket size. Together, Afresh customers have prevented 31 million pounds of food waste as of March 2023.
