Full harvest: IMPACT HIGHLIGHT
Impact Thesis
Providing a platform that enables farmers to sell surplus and “second harvest” produce will reduce food waste and its associated environmental impacts.
Full Harvest addresses climate change through food waste prevention
One-third of edible produce is discarded or left unharvested on U.S. farms each year, often due to cosmetic purposes. This waste requires a huge amount of fresh water and contributes to methane emissions when sent to a landfill. The collective impact of food waste makes it now the #1 contributor to climate change.
Full Harvest’s virtual marketplace efficiently connects farms with food companies, enabling the purchase of “ugly” and surplus produce. To date, the company has conserved 675M gallons of water since 2016, creating additional revenue for farmers and lower costs for food businesses in the process.
